Weight: The Farmer-Helper TL series is 310 lbs to 430 lbs depending on the size of the unit. Rotary Tillers need to be heavy in order for the tines to penetrate the ground and reduce bucking.
Working Width: The Farmer-Helper TL series has a tilling width of 33″ to 53″ depending on the size of the unit.
Offset: The Farmer-Helper TL series has an offset of 12″ to 18″ to the right of center, depending on the size of the unit. The tiller is offset from the center of the PTO so that you don’t end up with compacted tire tracks in you finished bed.
Rotation: The Farmer-Helper TL series are forward rotation as the tires of the tractor when traveling forward. This rotation requires less horsepower to operate; allows for a smoother bed of soil behind the tiller, and allows rocks to expel without recycling them through the tiller.
HP Required at the PTO: The Farmer-Helper TL series has a requirement of 12 – 40 hp at the PTO, depending on the size of the unit.
Working Depth: Adjustable side runners to 2″ – 6″ deep. Adjustable and replaceable side runners allow for deep tilling.
Total Number of Tines: The Farmer-Helper TL series has standard duty 19 oz tines. 16 to 28 tines, depending on the size of the unit. They are made of hardened tool steel. These tines are precisely spaced to maximize tilling coverage while at the same time reduce jamming caused by rocks and debris.
Blade Type: The Farmer-Helper TL series has L shaped tines.
Rotor Swing Diameter: The Farmer-Helper TL series has a 16″ diameter. Large swing diameter allows for deep digging.
Rear Deflector: Keeps dirt in and maintains a level finish. The deflector is shaped and formed for additional strength. Adjustable deflector level allows for various finish results.
Main Gearbox: ASAE 1- 3/8″ – 6 spline shaft, proven cast iron, oil bath gearbox; ratio is 1.69:1.
Chain Drive: Oil bath chain driven side gear drive mechanism. The TL Series Standard Rotary tiller has a rated 35 HP continuous use slip clutch comprised of adapter shafts to connect between your PTO shaft and the implement and two spring compressed clutch plates. The idea is, as the name implies, that a clutch, in this case two plates compressed by a series of springs on the casing, transmits power to the implement.
When there is an obstruction, the clutch slips and prevents the shock load from being transmitted to the tractor or absorbed completely by the implement.A key point in using a slip clutch is to make sure it is adjusted properly to begin with (ie it does in fact slip and you don’t have the springs set so tightly that it won’t) and also that you periodically loosen the springs to allow the clutch to slip so that the two plates don’t rust together.

I walked into the Creswell office months ago on my way home from work to look at their tillers for my 2025r. I was talking to the receptionist about a FH TL 125 and a voice out of the office near us threw out a price and said he had one. (without giving away the price)...... it was low. To make a long story short, the price was mis-quoted and although i gave them several opportunities to charge me the correct price, I was told "I'am a man of my word and i quoted you a price, thats the price you will pay." I have 10 acres and have used my tiller for months and it has worked great. I fully recommend betsco for both quality and integrity.
LOOKS LIKE TO WELL BUILT TILLER, JUST PUT IT TOGEATHER AND SET THE DRIVELINE CLUTCH, I DID A TEST RUN IN SOME HARD GROUND AND IT WORKED GREAT.
Very solid construction: 3/16, 1/4 or 5/16 steel throughout. Welds look well done, paint job is nicely done. Heavy duty fasteners.
The directions are somewhat difficult to read and the pictures do not match the unit, requiring the reader to use some imagination to see what is intended. The oil fill for the gear case is particular is awkward: you must remove the top cover (5 bolts) to access it (no mention of this in the manual). The gear box does not look like the directions and has no top fill plug, only a side plug for testing oil level. I used this side plug to fill the oil, which took a while as the funnel had to be held at a very low angle. Adjusting the offset is also a little cumbersome, but it is adjustable and thankfully this only really has to be done once.
There is a note to adjust the slip clutch to your local soil conditions. I backed my slip clutch nuts all the way off as directed and the unit churned through rocky New England soil with no problems. My JD 650 (14 hp pto) handled this with no difficulty.
For value and construction I give it 5 stars, for convenience and the quality of the user manual, only 3. 4 about sums it up.
(Thanks to his input it was noted that wrong product instructions were in this FH-TL manual. Instructions were for our VL-TL series Tiller. Manual has been corrected). We read all comments and product suggestions and thank our customers for their feedback.
I have only used it to till a large garden, but it did a beautiful job. We are very pleased with it. It did take quite a bit to adjust and and get working.
m just getting it unpacked and mounted on my Kubota. It looks like a very well made tiller and I am excited to try it out. I looked at a number of makes of tillers over the plast month and for the price and quality this one was the leader.
Delivered on time. ....once received I took time checking out every thing and greasing up everything to my specificactions. .....Then the time came to learn and put that bad boy to my abuse. The following is not recommended but I had to put it to the test. I tilled two acres of land ..... I pulled up (bricks-iron-wood chunks-center blocks-plastic chunks -etc) I even had a piece of cement get caught in the tines and tested the slip clutch. I can't stress enough that this bad boy exceeded all of my expectations. I highly recommend doing business with these people. It is truly the best piece of equipment I ever bought. I received my tiller in a very well packed steel crate. It took a little more effort to put it together than I expected, but well worth it.
I attached it to my 1972 17hp Kubota and went to work. It did the job of tilling yellow clay dirt I was using to make a pad for a building with NO trouble whatsoever. It mad short work of that stubborn soil. I strongly recommend this little 41" tiller to anyone with a small tractor.

The tiller made quick work of tilling pasture land into a planting area for red clover. I did not receive an operators manual with the shipment, but Betst sent me one on-line. However once I looked at it the manual was virtually useless, but figuring out the operation of the unit was pretty straightforward. Make sure you have 13, 14 15 16, 17, and 19 mm wrenches to make the required assemblies and adjustments. I would highly recommend the product for light to medium duty tilling.
