Description for flail mower:

The EFG Series (Medium Duty) Flail Mower is an option if you are working on grass or brush. Ideal for an orchard, nursery, vineyard, in the greenhouse or for gardening. With its fast blade tip speed and interchangeable blades, it is perfect for your groundskeeping tasks. By putting on the Grass Mulching Blades you can maintain the grass area around your home, plus cut and mulch small twigs. If you need to maintain more dense areas, install the Hammer Blades and you will be able to cut and mulch wooded material up to 2 inches in diameter.  This model is great for acreage of 15 or less.

Flail Mowers are useful for jobs where you are cutting grass on the uneven ground, high grass, weeds, brush, and wooded material. A flail mower doesn’t throw grass, instead, it cuts finely and leaves the cuttings on the ground where it was cut making it an excellent choice for those places where you could cause damage by throwing debris. Highway mowing and park maintenance often use flail mowers because they are less likely to throw objects during cutting.

Details:

Overall Width: The EFG series has an overall width of 47″ to 75″ depending on the size of the unit.

Cutting Width: The EFG series has a cutting width of 41″ to 68″ depending on the size of the unit.

Weight: The EFG series has a weight of 480 lbs to 650 lbs depending on the size of the unit.

HP Requirements at PTO: The EFG series requires 18 – 45 PTO horsepower depending on the size of the unit.

Cutting Height: The EFG series has a 0″ – 6″ Adjustable to meet various height requirements

Housing Material Thickness: The EFG series has a housing of 3mm.

Side Plate Thickness: The EFG series has a side plate thickness of 1/4″.

Blade Type: The EFG series uses standard hammer blade. Each hammer blade weighs 14 oz made of cast steel (cast steel is much more durable than cast iron). Use the hammer blades for clearing saplings (2″ diameter or less), and for grasses.

Number of Blades: The EFG series uses 16 – 28 hammer blades, depending on the size of the unit.

Precision Blade Overlap: On the EFG series the blades are staggered precisely with no gap in the mowing area. Blade overlap is important to achieve an even cutting result.

Rotor Rotation – Reverse: The rotor spins in the opposite direction as the wheels of the tractor when traveling forward. This allows the blades to shear the material as it is folded forward by the mowers. The material is then thrown up and over the rotor.

Rotor Tube Diameter: 4 1/2″- Heavy duty steel tubing for long life.

Balanced Rotor Tube: The rotor tube is balanced to reduce vibration and ensures that the mower runs smooth, and reduces wear on the bearings.

Rotor Swing Diameter: 13″ Large swing so that the blades build required inertia.

Hitch Type: Category 1 standard 3-point.

Offset From Center Mount: This feature allows for offset from center to the right of the tractor. This feature is helpful for mowing around fences, buildings; walkways etc. From the center of the PTO, the mower extends 19 3/4″ to 43 1/2″ depending on the size of the unit.

Drive Belts: The EFG series uses 2 – 3 belts, depending on the size of the unit.

Gearbox Rating: Up to 45 hp. Heavy duty proved oil bath gearbox for long life.

Driveline / PTO Shaft: Shear Bolt PTO Shaft for Standard 1-3/8” 6-Spline PTO

Finish: Baked on powder coat, powder coat is superior to paint.

Warranty: 2-year parts warranty with an optional 2-year extension.

Purchased EFG125 48” to use behind my Deere 1025R. Received the unit in good time considering the state of the world lately. Paid for the lift gate service and it was well worth it. FED EX driver wheeled it right into the garage. The unit comes well packaged.
I am impressed with the build quality considering the price. Have only had the time to use it once so far, the 1025R handles it quite well. This thing turns the power of the Deere into sheer destruction. It handled everything I threw at it, and.my tractor rated at 18 pto horsepower never seemed to struggle. The only issue I ran into is the pin worked loose from the kick stand and the mower ended up beating it up pretty good. So after one use I would recommend this unit.looking forward to getting more use out of it and eventually changing over to grass blades.

So far it looks like a good flail mower. Only wish it was designed for a quick hitch. I will have to modify for my needs.

I have a half acre of green irrigated lawn to mow and abut 3 acres of rough dry land to maintain. After researching whether a flail mower would do a good job trimming a groomed lawn I purchased the FH-EFG155 flail mower for my Massey Ferguson GC 1715 tractor. the price was less than half that of a mid mount mower. The package arrived exactly on time. The packaging was amazing. The setup was typical of a 3 point implement. Attaching the stand was a pain. It requires removal of half the front skirt guards. I also drilled another hole to offset it from center. If installed in the center, and stored there, the stand will impact the drive line. Mine came with the mulching hammer blades. I sharpened them and it does a better job of grooming my irrigated lawn than any riding mower I have used. This a very robust unit and does a great job on the dry acreage. I have cut tall dead dead grass and even a 3 ft tall tree. It took two passes but produced a fairly clean result. The only down side would be that it is not as nimble as a mid mount mower.
