Blade Type: The EFG series comes standard with forged steel hammer blades. Each blade weighs 14 oz and does not need to be sharpened, as hammer blades bludgeon material to pulverize it into fine clippings. Hammer blades are rated for cutting tall grass and saplings 2” in diameter or less. We also carry optional cast steel hammer blades. If you do not have rocks or debris in your pasture, you can order a spare set of cast steel blades, they are rated for the same material (tall grass and saplings up to 2” diameter) but are less expensive than a set of forged hammers. We also carry grass knives that are only good for tall grass, but it leaves a nicer looking cut. Grass knives are made of tool steel and will deflect rocks without breaking.
Number of Blades: The Farmer-Helper EFG series uses 16 – 28 hammer blades, depending on the size of the unit.
Precision Blade Overlap: On the Farmer-Helper EFG series the blades are staggered precisely with no gap in the mowing area. Blade overlap is important to achieve an even cutting result.
Rotor Rotation – Reverse: The rotor spins in the opposite direction as the wheels of the tractor when traveling forward. This allows the blades to shear the material as it is folded forward by the mowers. The material is then thrown up and over the rotor.
Rotor Tube Diameter: 4 1/2″- Heavy duty steel tubing for long life.
Balanced Rotor Tube: The rotor tube is balanced to reduce vibration and ensures that the mower runs smooth, and reduces wear on the bearings.
Rotor Swing Diameter: 13″ Large swing so that the blades build required inertia.
Hitch Type: Category 1 standard 3-point.
Offset From Center Mount: This feature allows for offset from center to the right of the tractor. This feature is helpful for mowing around fences, buildings; walkways etc. From the center of the PTO, the mower extends 19 3/4″ to 43 1/2″ depending on the size of the unit.
Drive Belts: The Farmer-Helper EFG series uses 2 – 4 belts, depending on the size of the unit.
Gearbox Rating: Up to 45 hp. Heavy duty proved oil bath gearbox for long life.
Driveline / PTO Shaft: Shear Bolt PTO Shaft for Standard 1-3/8” 6-Spline PTO

Cast steel flail mower hammers are made by pouring molten steel into a mold, where it cools and solidifies into the desired shape. Forged steel flail mower hammers are made by heating a piece of steel and then shaping it using a hammer or press.
Forged steel is stronger and more durable than cast steel. This is because the forging process aligns the grain structure of the steel, making it more resistant to breaking and bending. Additionally, forged steel tends to be more precise in shape and size, which can make it a better fit for certain types of machinery. On the other hand, cast steel is less expensive and it’s more easily manufactured. Forged steel flail mower hammers are stronger and more durable than cast steel flail mower hammers, but they are also more expensive.

Purchased EFG125 48” to use behind my Deere 1025R. Received the unit in good time considering the state of the world lately. Paid for the lift gate service and it was well worth it. FED EX driver wheeled it right into the garage. The unit comes well packaged.
I am impressed with the build quality considering the price. Have only had the time to use it once so far, the 1025R handles it quite well. This thing turns the power of the Deere into sheer destruction. It handled everything I threw at it, and.my tractor rated at 18 pto horsepower never seemed to struggle. The only issue I ran into is the pin worked loose from the kick stand and the mower ended up beating it up pretty good. So after one use I would recommend this unit.looking forward to getting more use out of it and eventually changing over to grass blades.
So far it looks like a good flail mower. Only wish it was designed for a quick hitch. I will have to modify for my needs.
I have a half acre of green irrigated lawn to mow and abut 3 acres of rough dry land to maintain. After researching whether a flail mower would do a good job trimming a groomed lawn I purchased the FH-EFG155 flail mower for my Massey Ferguson GC 1715 tractor. the price was less than half that of a mid mount mower. The package arrived exactly on time. The packaging was amazing. The setup was typical of a 3 point implement. Attaching the stand was a pain. It requires removal of half the front skirt guards. I also drilled another hole to offset it from center. If installed in the center, and stored there, the stand will impact the drive line. Mine came with the mulching hammer blades. I sharpened them and it does a better job of grooming my irrigated lawn than any riding mower I have used. This a very robust unit and does a great job on the dry acreage. I have cut tall dead dead grass and even a 3 ft tall tree. It took two passes but produced a fairly clean result. The only down side would be that it is not as nimble as a mid mount mower.
